The gaseous natal environments of GPS and CSS sources with ASKAP – FLASH

چکیده

GHz-Peaked Spectrum (GPS) and compact steep spectrum (CSS) sources are thought to represent a young and/or confined sub-population of radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGN) that yet evacuate their surrounding ambient interstellar gas. By studying the gaseous environments these objects, we can gain an insight into inter-dependent relationship between galaxies supermassive black holes (SMBHs). The First Large Absorption Survey in Hi (FLASH) will build census neutral atomic hydrogen (Hi) gas at intermediate cosmological redshifts. FLASH is expected detect least several hundred absorbers associated with GPS CSS sources. These provide important probe abundance kinematics line-of-sight toward radio AGN, some cases revealing infalling clouds outflows. Observations now complete for first phase Pilot early analysis has already yielded detections, including source PKS 2311-477. Optical imaging this galaxy reveals interacting system could have supplied seen absorption triggered AGN. statistically significant sample which prevalence such gas-rich interactions among be investigated.

2 HI Absorption in GPS / CSS Sources

Combining our own observations with data from the literature, we consider the incidence of H I absorption in Gigahertz Peaked Spectrum (GPS) and Compact Steep Spectrum (CSS) sources. Here we present our preliminary results, where we find that the smaller GPS sources (< 1 kpc) on average have larger H I column densities than the larger CSS sources (> 1 kpc). Both a spherical and an axi-symmetric...

Polarisation in CSS/GPS radio sources

The polarisation properties of the intrinsically small (< 20 kpc) radio sources are briefly discussed. At centimetric and decimetric wavelengths, substantial polarised emission is often detected in quasars and, at a lower level, in radio sources identified with galaxies with projected linear sizes in excess of a few kpc. The projected linear size at which some polarised emission is detected dec...

X-ray Emission from GPS and CSS Sources

Many X-ray observations of GigaHertz Peaked Spectrum and Compact Steep Spectrum sources have been made with Chandra X-ray Observatory and XMM-Newton Observatory over the last few years. The X-ray spectra contribute the important information to the total energy distribution of the compact radio sources. In addition the spatial resolution of Chandra allows for studies of the X-ray morphology of t...

the evaluation of language related engagment and task related engagment with the purpose of investigating the effect of metatalk and task typology

abstract while task-based instruction is considered as the most effective way to learn a language in the related literature, it is oversimplified on various grounds. different variables may affect how students are engaged with not only the language but also with the task itself. the present study was conducted to investigate language and task related engagement on the basis of the task typolog...
